Merit Badge Counselor Training now on-line

Merit Badge Counselor training is now available on-line at the BSA Learn Center.  The training consists of six short video courses with test questions at the end of each.  Each segment may be taken independently. The total training time should be about an hour – less if you have already taken some of the courses in the scoutmaster or committee position training sequences.

You may access the BSA Learn Center through your account, either by clicking on the Learn Center Logo on the home page after login or through the Training Center tab on your dashboard.  In the Course Catalog tab add the two Merit Badge Counselor learning plans to your account (click the green plus) and then access the training through the Learn Center My Learning tab.

The in-person version of this training is still available. If your unit would like to schedule the in-person version of the Merit Counselor training, contact Dave Rypka.

Youth Protection Training – Get ALL adults trained!

Youth Protection is our #1 job.  YPT Training helps keep us informed of the latest information as well as fulfill the YPT “Active” status (every two years), I am offering to come to your unit during your meeting time (or other time as directed) to get your unit compliant.  ANY adult in the unit is encouraged to participate.  Leaders, Committee or just parents that are driving our boys to/from outings (must have YPT).  The training should take 30-40 minutes depending upon questions.

I have some sample promotion materials that you can customize for your troop as well:

January Training Update

I want to pass on some information regarding the New Cub Scout Program:

We can expect an expanded series of roundtable updates for the new CS program to be available for use in January and lasting through the end of the summer.

Online fast start training is receiving a major overhaul of content and delivery method with a probable date of delivery at the end of Q1 2015

An online “What’s New” training will be available by the end of Q1 2015.

Cub Scout handbooks have undergone the final editorial review by the volunteer team that worked to develop the new resources. They are being sent off for production. We are expecting that they will be available by May 1 for purchase by boys and leaders.
