School Night for Scouting: 14th September 2017!

Blast into Scouting ( on-line registration is open, and accessible on your cell phone too!

This year will be our third year of having a once yearly signup for our new Cub scouts at all the elementary schools in District 204. We are set for growth in our membership this year in the Indian Prairie District if we can have successful marketing before the event and good sign-up on the night.
Make marketing your first priority. Distribute flyers together in the neighborhood, adults to post on social media or get together at the Charter Organization and advertise the event with flyers. Talk to your friends, family about the new Lions program. That alone should bring them to sign their boys up on the 14th!

We know why scouting is great for our kids, lets tell others!

Patron’s Breakfast Speakers needed

This coming November, 28th (Giving Tuesday) marks the third annual Three Fires Council Patron’s Breakfast. During this fundraising event, we reach out to the community, inviting them to come see what great things that Scouting is making possible in our area. We have our Scouts and Key Leaders deliver this message. That is where we need your help – we are looking for exceptional Scouts with extraordinary stories to tell to show our Community just what Scouting does for the greater Three Fires Council area!

Please look back on your recent Scouting experience as a leader – does a certain Scout have an exceptional story? Then let us know, we will conduct interviews and determine whose story needs to be told at the patron’s breakfast.

Last year, David Simnick, Eagle Scout from Troop 81 of Naperville and Founder of Soap Box Soaps, gave a rousing performance that showcased how Scouting has made his recent success as a young professional possible.

Student Representatives Needed for Naperville City Boards and Commissions

Deadline for Emails of Interest is Monday, September 25

NAPERVILLE, Ill. –  Mayor Steve Chirico and the Naperville City Council would like to extend an invitation to Naperville high school students to fill student positions on several City boards and commissions.

Interested students should submit an email to with their name, home address, high school, year in school, their interests and the board/commission on which they would like to serve. Preference is given to high school seniors; however, all high school students may apply. Those students who served on a board or commission in previous years will need to reapply.

The deadline for submitting emails of interest is Monday, September 25, 2017. Students should anticipate actively participating on the board or commission; therefore, consideration should be given to the time commitment required.

Leaf Raking Troop Service project

Calling all Troops

Senior Citizens are in need of volunteers to rake their leaves.  This effort is being coordinated by the Senior Services Task Force (SSTF) and Naperville Park District.

What:  Leaf raking for Senior Citizens.   (Service Opportunity for a Patrol/Troop)
When:  Sometime in Mid October to Mid-November.
Where: At various homes of Naperville Senior Citizens.  (Maybe we can get Aurora involved too, anyone have a contact?)
Who:  Boy Scouts  (Patrols/Troops)
Why:  Do we need explain?
How:  Scouts rake up lawn for Naperville bulk leaf collection which starts on these weeks.

  • November 13 (collection is scheduled to end on November 22)

If your Troop is interested in participating, please let Jeff Gross know.  There will be more details to come on the process to get house locations.
