District Dinner – save the date

The Indian Prairie Annual District Dinner is moving a couple months earlier and being held on Sunday, March 6th from 5-8pm.   The event will be held at the Stonebridge Country Club which is the same location as last year.  The program will be similar with some additional recognition and awards too.

The Silver Acorn nomination form is available at IPD 2016 Silver Acorn Nomination Form and District Award nomination instructions will be coming from Ken Hogan soon. Friends of Scouting Update


It is that time of year again to begin the local Three Fires Council, 2016 Family Friends of Scouting fundraising campaign. Please, if you have not already done so, have your Pack, Troop or Crew’s FOS Coordinator contact Indian Prairie Family FOS Chair, Claire Larsen to schedule your 2016 Family FOS Presentation. Do this by 12/31/15, have 75% Family Members Participate, and Achieve your Unit’s FOS Goal and be celebrated as an Indian Prairie FOS Honor Unit. Recognition will be posted on the District website, District Newsletter, announced at Roundtable, and will be published in the upcoming Annual Awards Banquet Program.

Klondike Derby Update

Mark your calendar for Indian Prairie Klondike Derby! On January 22nd/23rd district units will gather at Greene Valley Forest Preserve for a friendly winter competition!  The champions will be the first to take home the new traveling trophy – they can show it off for a year until next year’s Klondike!  Who is going to take this home for the very first time in the District Klondike History??

Date: January 23, 2016 (Saturday) (Overnight available on Friday/Saturday Night)

Friday Arrival & Check-in: 6:00pm on January 22 (Friday)

Saturday Arrival & Check-in: 8:30am on January, 23 (Saturday)

Place: Greene Valley Forest Preserve

Price $15 per Scouts/ $5 per Adult Leaders (Covers up to 2 nights)

$12 per BS Scouts (no overnight) and Webelos Scouts (no overnight)

$0 for Webelos parents/leaders (no overnight)

2015 Gathering of Eagles Banquet

The recognition dinner for the Scouts who received their Eagle in 2015 will be held on February 19, 2016.  2015 Eagles should receive their invitations in late December.  Registration is required and will be available on the web site beginning mid-December.  Adults wishing to sponsor an Eagle may also sign up on the web site.

Reminder: We’re looking for an outstanding Eagle Scout to represent the Class of 2015 at the TFC Eagle Recognition Dinner being held on February 19, 2015.  Only one Scout will be chosen to deliver a speech on behalf of all 2015 Eagle Scouts.  This Scout must have had his Eagle Board of Review in the year 2015 to qualify for this honor.  The Scout who is chosen will receive a $500.00 scholarship.  Auditions will be held January 9, 2016.  For more information see the audition form for 2015 Eagles.
